Created by Mugler Creative Director Casey Cadwallader, the collection includes both womenswear and menswear, accessories and tributes. The late French designer wore shades featuring large shoulders that narrowed at the waist with a cut meant to pay homage to the lines of the human body, which H&M described as an “ode to confidence,” according to USA Today.
“The collection is a celebration of everything that defines a Mugler as a house and every piece is an authentic Mugler, from the underwear, which has become our signature, to the meticulous tailoring and crafted jeans,” Cadwallader said in the March issue, before. Adding, “It’s a display of our icons.”
“This collection is a watershed moment for the House of Mugler – an opportunity for us to celebrate our history and the pieces we love today,” added Cadwallader.
This new collection focuses on leather, showcasing everything from slacks and jackets to a pretty button-down trench coat.
But there’s also a strong presence of denim that includes a sculpting jacket, complete with padding that accentuates the male physique.
Talks about a possible collaboration between H&M and Mugler had already begun before the fashion house’s namesake, Manfred Thierry Mugler, passed away in January 2022.
“The collection unites the house’s history with its present and future, presenting many Mugler classics and signatures,” according to H&M website. “The collection is a dynamic showcase of the Mugler world today, and the exciting ways Cadwallader has twisted and reinvented the house to make it fresh and relevant for a new generation.”
