Palestinian gunmen shoot two Israeli soldiers south of Nablus

Date:

On Saturday evening, Israeli media announced that two Israeli soldiers were injured as a result of a shooting attack from a speeding Palestinian vehicle in Hawara, south of Nablus.

According to Israeli sources, Palestinian gunmen opened fire from a speeding car at an Israeli force in the town of Huwwara, wounding two Israeli soldiers, who are in moderate and serious condition.

The Israeli forces launched a massive chase behind the vehicle that was used in the shooting.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli forces closed all entrances and roads south of Nablus.

Since the beginning of the year, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has claimed the lives of 100 people on both sides. 86 Palestinians and 13 Israelis died, in addition to a Ukrainian citizen, according to a toll compiled by Agence France-Presse from official Israeli and Palestinian sources.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich

On March 4, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich retracted his statements about “erasing” the Palestinian town of Hawara in the West Bank, describing it as a “slip of the tongue.”

The Times of Israel quoted Smotrich, the leader of the far-right religious Zionist party, as saying that he “mischose” his words about Hawara, noting that his remarks came out amid “a surge of feelings.”

The Minister of Finance had said in early March that the town of Hawara, where two Israelis were killed in an attack, should be “erased”.
