Paint the town green! Boozy revellers clad in shamrocks, Guinness hats and suspenders pack the streets of Britain as they celebrate the night before St Patrick’s Day

Revelers got into party spirit early ahead of St Patrick’s Day on Sunday.

Excited revelers donned green fancy dress as they danced the night away over the Irish holiday weekend.

Elaborate costumes included green and black Guinness beer hats and shamrock-themed clothing.

In Newcastle, revelers kicked off the festivities on a boozy Saturday night.

One man was depicted wearing a light green dress with a hat, while others wore shamrock headbands and Irish flags.

Elsewhere on the Otley Run, Leeds’ premier pub crawl, revelers enjoyed the relatively mild March weather outside with a pint.

Most were dressed in the Irish color green for the occasion, with some even painting their faces.

One partygoer was pictured getting into the Irish spirit for his birthday, while another wore a tall bold green tie emblazoned with the words ‘luck of the Irish’.

In another group you could see a man wearing a black outfit with a large Christian cross.

St Patrick’s Day, which takes place on March 17, is a huge celebration for people of Irish descent – and fans of all things Irish – around the world.

Pubs and clubs across the UK are hosting Irish-themed nights throughout the weekend, with celebrations particularly notable in cities with significant Irish populations, including Manchester, Liverpool and London.

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and the day is an opportunity for religious, historical and cultural celebrations.

It takes place on March 17 every year, the date when St. Patrick is believed to be dead.
