Glamorous golfer Paige Spiranac recently revealed why she wears the outfits that made her go viral on the golf course.

Spiranac is a social media sensation, boasting a whopping four million followers on Instagram thanks to her content, which often shows her sporting unconventional outfits on the golf course.

Speaking on the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams, Spiranac revealed that her on-field attire came out of necessity rather than choice.

‘Before I switched to golf, I was a competitive gymnast so I was very comfortable in leotards and when I started playing golf, I didn’t have enough money to buy a new golf-appropriate outfit.

‘I often wore activewear I had in my closet, like leggings and tank tops.

‘So I learned to play golf on public golf courses where there was no strict dress code.’

Spiranac offered words of encouragement to those who might feel intimidated by the game’s “country club” atmosphere and gave some advice to those who might be put off by issues like the dress code.

‘I think a lot of people are afraid to take up golf because it can be a very boring and sometimes unwelcoming sport.

“Because you’re so afraid of ‘what am I wearing, what am I doing, am I going to, you know, annoy a country club member or all those things?'”

‘Where I can go to a public golf course and when I go, I see guys in cut-off jeans and tank tops and I’m wearing leggings.

‘You can still respect the game and maintain the tradition of the game and it doesn’t have to be all about your wardrobe.’

Spiranac recently participated in the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic, which featured 16 of the world’s top golf content creators.

The former college golfer finished with a score of 2 over par through eight holes as the competition format only allowed the top four golfers to play a final ninth hole.
