Pagasa monitors the PLA in eastern Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippines’ area of ​​responsibility is being monitored by the state meteorological office, it confirmed on Saturday.

In a public weather forecast, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) meteorological specialist Daniel Villamil said they were not ruling out the possibility that this LPA, at least 1,505 kilometers away eastern Mindanao, turns into a tropical cyclone in the future. days.

“Hindi natin tinatanggal ‘yung posibilidad o tiyansa na itong LPA is a ganap na bagyo in the susunod naraw. Sa ngayon a wala pa itong ganap na epekto sa ating bansa,” Villamil said.

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is still affecting southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. With that, residents of Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte were warned of cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday.

“Maging handa tayo sa biglang pagbaha and pagguho ng lupa lalong lalo na in low-lying and flood-prone areas,” Villamil continued.

(Let’s be alert and watchful for possible flooding and landslides, especially those in low-lying, flood-prone areas.)

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, can expect hot and humid weather with a chance of scattered and intermittent rain in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.

  • Baguio City – 17°C to 24°C
  • Tagaytay – 22°C to 31°C
