Paedophile who sexually abused children while posing as a babysitter is jailed in Germany

Date:

A self-proclaimed ‘disgusting’ pedophile who sexually assaulted 13 children as young as one month old while posing as a babysitter has been sentenced in Germany today to 14 years in prison.

Marcus R., 45, drugged the young girls and boys in their homes before sexually assaulting them as they screamed in pain, the Cologne court heard.

The married computer specialist filmed himself abusing the young children and shared them on chat rooms with other pedophiles for 14 years. Investigators said it took them 17 days to copy the data from his computer due to the sheer number of horrifying videos and images.

Marcus R. was sentenced today to 14 years and six months in prison for his “sadistic” crimes. The IT expert appeared in court and covered his face with a piece of paper.

“Behind a bourgeois facade was a dark side,” Judge Christoph Kaufmann said of Marcus R. according to Image.

Between 2005 and 2019, Marcus R. from Wermelskirchen abused 13 children. The prosecutor said he had committed 124 offenses against the youths, the youngest of which was a girl just one month old.

Marcus R., posing as a trustworthy babysitter, allegedly sexually assaulted the children while their parents went to work or went out with friends.

Among those he mistreated were the two young sons of a police officer. In 2007, Beate M. – not her real name – hired Marcus R. to care for her children, who were then two and four years old, after several supervised play dates.

Marcus R. visited the family home every month while Beate M. was at work. During those hours alone, he would drug the boys before sexually assaulting and torturing them with sex toys he carried in his bag, reports Die Welt newspaper.

He would film himself sexually assaulting the young boys and send the videos to other pedophiles, encouraging fathers to abuse their children, reports

Marcus R., who has described his behavior as “disgusting” during his trial, was arrested by police officers at his family home in December 2021.

Beate M. was told by police officers that Marcus R. had sexually abused her children while he was babysitting.

A police officer told Beate M. that her youngest son had been crying in pain in one of the videos.

“I have not seen the films to this day and will not,” Beate M. told Die Welt. “But I can’t stop thinking about that wail he told me about.”

Beate M says her children don’t remember the abuse they suffered – partly because of the trauma, but also because of the drugs Marcus R. used. “They didn’t know, they don’t need to know now,” she said.

During the trial, the court heard how Marcus R. told other pedophiles that he found the children’s “whining and resistance” stimulating. Investigators said they found he had written 30,957 messages to other abusers under four different names in an online chat.

German politician Herbert Reul, interior minister for the North Rhine-Westphalia region, told Bild: “I am relieved that this criminal and tormentor of so many innocent children has now been behind bars for many years.

Every victim that is released, every perpetrator that is punished, gives us extra motivation to track down child abusers and to invest in manpower and technology for this important work.’
