Padres vs. Dodgers score, live updates: NLDS Game 5 is winner-take-all matchup between NL West rivals

After battling all season in the NL West and being two of the best teams in the NL, it all comes down to one game for the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Division Series. National League.

Game 5 is at Dodger Stadium, and this series has had a little bit of everything, from fans throwing trash on the field to Dave Roberts accusing Manny Machado of throwing a ball into the Los Angeles dugout to Fernando Tatis Jr. having an incredible series for Shohei Ohtani letting out his emotions.

The Padres won eight of the 13 regular-season meetings between these teams in 2024 and have Yu Darvish on the mound in this one against Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Darvish played three at-bats against the Dodgers in the regular season; he had a 1.72 ERA in 15 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts and six walks in those games. He also went seven innings and struck out three in San Diego’s 10-2 victory in Game 2.

Yamamoto made two starts against the Padres earlier this season, including the season-opening series in South Korea, in which he lasted just one inning. In Game 1 of this series against the Padres, he pitched five innings and allowed five runs.

The winner of Friday’s Game 5 hosts the Mets, who edged the Phillies in their NLDS matchup, in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday.
