This synthetic-filled hoodie is the most useful jacket in the world, especially if you live on the West Coast. Lots of companies make similar jackets, but none can compare to the original, which is now made from 100 percent recycled polyester. It’s lightweight, versatile, and packable. It’s wind and water resistant, meaning you can take it hiking and wear it under soft-shell jackets and rain jackets, and shake it off before heading out to the bar in jeans. It’s worth noting, though, that while women’s and men’s versions are on sale, the discount applies only to certain colors.
The Micro Puff Hoody is our favorite lightweight synthetic puffer jacket. It has a slim fit that allows you to wear it under a shell jacket, but provides more warmth than the Nano Puff. These are also rarely on sale. This discount applies only to the Lagom Blue color for women and the Nouveau Green color for men.
The Torrentshell in our guide to the best rain jackets. This is Patagonia’s basic, practical three-layer rain jacket that’s now made from recycled fabric and has a PFC-free DWR finish. Editor Adrienne So says she and her husband have both owned the previous versions of these jackets for nearly a decade. This deal applies to select colors for both women and men.
The Capilene Cool Daily Tee holds the title of best synthetic tee in our guide to the best winter base layers, and we give the merino version an honorable mention in our guide to the best climbing gear. The 100 percent recycled polyester fabric feels luxuriously silky, and while comfortable, it doesn’t feel restrictive, even during strenuous activity. We suggest buying more than one, because we guarantee you’ll be rotating them. This offer applies to select colors only. We’re also fans of the Capilene Cool Daily Graphic Shirtwhich is also on sale for $38 ($17 off) at both men and Women’s versions.
Patagonia’s R1 Hoodies have a distinctive look because they’re made from a thin synthetic material that’s tremendously light while also incredibly warm. These are the iconic midlayers to wear for intensely aerobic outdoor activities, because they’ll breathe even when you’re pushing hard and keep you warm when you stop. At this price, though, they’re just as good as a thin layer for travel. This offer applies to select colors only.
This offer applies to the Lagom Blue colorway. Like the Capilene Cool Daily Tee, these midweight pants are made from polyester, so they wick sweat and provide enough stretch to not hinder your mobility. Since this is a midweight fabric, they are a bit thicker than the lightweight tee. Extra points to Patagonia for using fabric made from 100% recycled material.

This is one of our favorite fanny packs in our guide to the best fanny packs. Editor Adrienne So uses hers almost every day, whether she’s running or walking the dogs or kids to school. When it’s strapped in, it stays snug against the small of your back. It also easily expands to fit a pair of gloves or a hat and other items like your phone, lip balm, and wallet. The ultralight ripstop nylon has been treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish that’s 100 percent recycled. It can also be stuffed into a small pocket when you’re traveling.
This is one of our favorite options in our guide to the best suitcases. It’s made from 100% recycled polyester with a TPU film and a laminate—editor Adrienne So says she’s been using the 40-liter version for 15 years and the laminate hasn’t peeled off. It also fits as a carry-on for flights. Though it’s available in a variety of colors and sizes, the only model currently on sale is the 100-liter duffel bag in Matte Pimento Red.
