A couple claimed a birthday trip to Turkey ended in torture at the hands of police, who “beat, kicked and poured water over the man’s head” and “sexually assaulted” their partner.

The 30-year-old man and his partner, 23, flew to Antalya, Turkey, to celebrate the woman’s birthday by spending two days in Kemer, a coastal resort 50 minutes south of the airport.

What followed was a terrifying trip to a “military base” where agents took turns torturing the couple by violently beating the man and making his girlfriend drink “black liquid.”

The Foreign Office has said it is supporting the couple following the “incident”.

The Christmas nightmare, which took place on May 11, a day after the couple arrived in the country, began when they decided to return to their hotel after spending a night drinking cocktails.

A couple claimed a birthday trip to Turkey ended in torture at the hands of police, who “hit, kicked and poured water over the man’s head” and “sexually assaulted” their partner (pictured: facial injuries of women after vacation).

The woman was left with bruises on her body and face in addition to what she said looked like a needle wound.

What followed was a terrifying trip to a “military base” where officers took turns torturing the couple by violently beating the man and making his girlfriend drink “black liquid.”

The man said a local man had tried to take his girlfriend’s purse and, after telling her to stop and starting to walk back to the hotel, he heard a police car stop near them.

Six officers then got out of the car, according to the 30-year-old man, and told the couple they had to return to the police station.

He now believes the location was a military base, given the time they were in the car.

When they arrived, the two were placed in separate rooms and tortured individually by the group of Turkish police officers.

The man said: ‘About six officers ended up hitting me, punching me and slapping my head and face. Everyone took turns.

‘They took me to a back garden. He was still handcuffed. They told me to get on my knees.

‘I thought: ‘This is it, I’m going to die.’ The atmosphere felt like death.

‘They were all around me, smoking cigarettes and laughing.

The woman claims the guards sexually assaulted her and forced her to drink an unidentifiable liquid. In this image you can see bruises on her face.

The man described how, when he returned from being beaten by officers in an outside area, he heard his girlfriend screaming and claimed she was being “sexually assaulted.”

“Then they bathed me with cold water for half an hour. I was shaking.’

He described how, when he returned from the outside area, he heard his girlfriend screaming and claimed she was being “sexually assaulted.”

And he added: “They made her drink a black liquid and threatened her if she didn’t.”

The nightmare ended abruptly when a “good sergeant” arrived and asked the officers what was happening.

The couple were then released, but soon realized their phones, money and possessions had been taken. They also suspect the woman was injected with a substance after later discovering a needle-like wound on her body.

And the horrible vacation didn’t end when the man later saw the officers at the hotel as they prepared to leave the next day.

Shortly afterwards, at the airport, an officer handed a phone to the couple, from whom they were seeking help, and to their surprise they heard one of the officers from the night before on the other end, threatening them to “keep silent.”

The man said, “He came back to me and told me there’s someone on the phone who wants to talk to you.” He was thinking “thank God it’s the British embassy”.

“But it was the same police officers who attacked us. They said, “Go back to your country. If you ever talk like that about our police again, there will be problems.”

‘I was about to break down, thinking are they going to come here? My girlfriend and I were running through the airport hidden.

‘As soon as we checked in and were on the air, I told my girlfriend “we’re going home.”

‘It was the worst experience of my life.’

The couple’s flight took off from Turkey on May 12 and landed early the next morning, on May 13.

Once they landed at Birmingham Airport, the pair were detained by West Midlands Police officers who were concerned for their welfare, the man said.

“As soon as we got off the plane, the (West Midlands) police officers saw us,” he said. ‘They’ve come and grabbed me, thinking ‘do we have domestic violence here?’ I didn’t even say anything, my girlfriend started crying, she said ‘look at her body’.

The man said that once police officers saw his injuries, they asked the couple what had happened. West Midlands Police confirmed he had spoken to the couple and they were given advice.

Upon arrival at Antalya airport, the couple said another officer stopped them and handed them a mobile phone with a live call. On the other side of the line were their captors, threatening them and telling them that

The man added: “We just want justice.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: ‘Officers spoke to two people at Birmingham Airport on May 13, who made several allegations that they had been assaulted while abroad. They were supported by officers and counselled.’

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting a British couple following an incident in Turkey and are in contact with local authorities.”
