Cricket star Jake Fraser-McGurk won the instant sympathy of countless Aussie blokes when he suffered a sickening blow to the groin on Thursday night while batting in the Big Bash League.

Melbourne Renegades opener Fraser-McGurk, 22, took a delivery from Billy Stanlake right where it hurts during the second over at Geelong and his reaction told the story.

‘Fuck me,’ the batting prodigy was heard saying through the microphone.

Fraser-McGurk was back on his feet seconds later, only to fumble the next ball and clip Stanlake’s delivery onto his off-stump.

“Maybe a little hesitant after that nasty knock,” joked Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist on Fox Cricket.

Fortunately for Fraser-McGurk, his Renegades team used the style and crushed the Hobart Hurricanes in a comfortable chase.

It followed the lowest-ever BBL total for the visiting team, who also lost veteran Matthew Wade to a calf injury in the chaotic six-wicket defeat.

After being asked to bat first, the Hurricanes’ innings at the GMHBA Stadium lasted less than 13 overs as they were dismissed for 74.

New Zealand star Tim Seifert then scored an unbeaten 37 as the Renegades chased 75 in just nine overs.

Renegades captain Will Sutherland, plus Tom Rogers and Fergus O’Neill, bagged three wickets for the rampaging men in red.

“We have a short recovery period, so if I miss the next one, we won’t play again until the 27th (December),” a deflated Wade said after the game when discussing his injury.

“A worst-case (coincidence) I hope, but we’ll wait and see, do a scan.”

“Hopefully it’s just a strain, that would be the best case scenario.”

The Renegades move to 1-1 after losing their first game of the tournament against the Sydney Sixers.

Hobart will look to put a disastrous start to the BBL season behind them when they host the Perth Scorchers on December 21.
