Otei and Mutsi Mabuse broke down in tears as they were finally told information about their grandfather after a DNA test.
The sisters took part in the DNA Journey Show of Oti and Motsi Mabuse in an effort to learn more about their family history.
The Come Dancing stars become emotional when they receive medals their grandfather earned for his work in the armed forces, and they also learn that they are distantly related to Nelson Mandela.
In one heartwarming segment from the show, Otti and Motsi wipe away tears as a man gives them their grandfather’s family history.
It’s a good thing, it’s a great thing, Otey said. Please do not think we are sad. One of the missing pieces that we’ve been missing and needed to hear for so long, it’s such a beautiful thing. We are very grateful. These are the tears of “Oh my God!”

The man replied: You have much to be proud of and all the good deeds your grandfather did.
Motsi then read some of their grandfather’s honors: “British Defense Medal, War Medal and African Service Medal”.
“We had no idea there were war medals in the family,” she added.
Otey added, “We’ve tried and everywhere we’ve looked, there’s nothing. That’s why we have it in our heads that there is nothing in our family. It totally turned that on its head.”
Mozzi said the couple can’t wait to give the information to their father, who he suspects won’t know any of it either.
In another clip, the sisters talk to a different man who checks their DNA and discovers that Nelson Mandela is their “genetic relative”.
“Your group,” he said, “some special people belong to your group who are distant genetic relatives of yours.”
Motsi replied, “Don’t say Nelson Mandela.”

The man confirms that it was Nelson Mandela, prompting Otti and Motsi to jump up and down with joy as he adds: “They are both Archbishop Desmond Tutu.”
In another clip, Otti and Motsi appear to discover that they are also related to a royal family.
They talk to a young woman over Zoom who tells them: ‘I have this really interesting piece of information. My great-grandmother was a direct descendant of the royal family. Her name is Princess Hermina.
