Abbie Chatfield has defended herself after being accused of making ‘inappropriate’ comments about Margot Robbie’s dress at the Oscars.

The 27-year-old radio host shared a series of videos on Instagram addressing the backlash.

She angered her followers by posting a photo of the 32-year-old Hollywood actress presenting an award onstage with Morgan Freeman, along with the caption: “Best thing ever seen.” I finished!’

Some of her fans felt this comment was a backhanded compliment implying that Margot’s previous red carpet looks weren’t up to scratch.

An enthused Abbie told her critics to “take a fucking breather” because she hadn’t meant to throw shade at Margot.

Please take a moment to look at this DM I received. I need everyone to take a fucking breath and assess what we should call it,” Abbie began.

‘She is one of the most beautiful women in the world. I have met her in real life. I’m obsessed with Margot Robbie.

‘She looks fucking amazing. What do you think I’m commenting on?

“She looks amazing in black, her hair is straight, she doesn’t wear Chanel, Chanel wasn’t the most killer.”

She added: ‘The projection of this person. Her circumstances are… she’s at the Oscars in a sexy dress! And this is Margot, bloody Robbie!

Abbie told her critics to put their energy into worthwhile causes, instead of trying to find fault with her Instagram posts.

‘Put that energy into climate change or any other kind of activism. Internet, I can’t! she despaired.

The message that sparked Abbie’s tirade urged her to refrain from commenting on other people’s physical appearance, even if it’s meant as a compliment.

“Girl, this isn’t proper language when talking about another person…it’s about not commenting on people’s appearances when you don’t know the circumstances and it goes very wrong,” the DM read.

“You could say ‘my favorite look of hers,’ but ‘best thing she’s ever seen’ has all kinds of weird, negative associations and you really need to address that and change it.”

Another troll responded to Abbie’s IG stories: “I was all for you but it’s actually true because if someone commented negatively on his looks you would have come for him!”

Abbie responded, “You as a human should be able to tell that I’m not comparing her appearance (or) commenting on her body.” He is using his common sense and context clues.

Abbie concluded: “At the Oscars tonight, my opinion is that Margot Robbie looks better than I have ever seen her in person at any red carpet event.”

She always looks beautiful, but this is the best thing ever. This is due to her hair and makeup as she is wearing a black dress which is rare to see on Margot”.

The I, Tonya actress looked amazing on Oscar night in a sequined Armani Privé gown that featured an off-the-shoulder design and a small, plunging neckline.

Despite performing on stage, she skipped the red carpet after being turned down in the Best Actress category.
