Ivan Angulo’s early strike gave Orlando City a 1-0 victory over Nashville SC and booked a place in the next round of the MLS playoffs on Tuesday night.
Just six minutes into their clash at Geodis Park, Orlando took the lead when Angulo’s shot from the penalty area went over Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis and ended up in the net thanks to a huge deflection.
The home side were unable to find a route back into the match, falling to a second straight defeat in the best-of-three series and falling out of this season’s play-offs.
Orlando, meanwhile, can look ahead to a clash with Atlanta United or Columbus Crew in the next round.
Atlanta prevailed in a six-goal thriller with Columbus earlier in the evening to send their best-of-three series to a decider.
