A man throws stacks of $200,000 $100 bills out of a car window onto a highway sparking a frantic search for money – but his family says he drained their bank accounts to fund a ridiculous stunt!

A man’s family says he drained their joint bank account by pulling out stacks of $100 bills and then proceeded to throw cash out his car window on an Oregon highway.
Colin Davis McCarthy, 38, showered money on residents of Eugene on Tuesday as he dumped cash around 7 p.m. to “bless others with gifts of money.”
The bills, totaling about $200,000, were collected by frenzied passers-by on the road.
Dozens scoured the sides of I-5, some even bringing flashlights to help them find their prized paper bills at night, hoping to get “blessed” with some money to spend.
“It’s a hundred-dollar bill, and I’m like, ‘What!?’ “So my friend and I decided to go one way, he goes the other way and so far I found $300!” said an unidentified woman. Kizzy 9.
Despite the happy occasion for bystanders, the McCarthys now accused him of leaving them broke to get the job done.

Dozens of pedestrians have scoured the sides of I-5, some even bringing flashlights to help them find their precious paper bills at night, hoping to get “blessed” with a few hundred extra dollars.
Unfortunately for the family, the police can do little. Since the account is joint, McCarthy has as much right to the money as the other person on the account.
“Because it’s shared, they both have equal interests in the money,” Oregon State Police Officer Jim Andrews told KEZI 9.
“To prevent something like that from happening if you’re single, you definitely want to create a secondary bank account and then withdraw a portion of the money that you think really belongs to you.”
It is unclear what McCarthy’s relationship is with the other person on the account.
McCarthy told the soldiers he dropped about $200,000 in cash, but authorities estimate the amount is much less. Within an hour of the stunt, the money had been raised.
The family is now asking anyone who got the money to return it to the Oregon State Police, according to KEZI 9.
Police told McCarthy to stop throwing money around 7:30 p.m. because it was dangerous to drivers and pedestrians, especially in the dark. After the request, McCarthy reportedly ended his hoax.
He was not charged with the operation, although the officers admitted to KEZI 9 that they considered citing him for endangering traffic.
“He could have been accused in a situation like this of being a danger by his actions – disorderly conduct, perhaps recklessly endangering, but more likely disorderly conduct,” Andrews said.
I know the soldiers considered charging or arresting him, but after a conversation with him chose not to.
When the police spoke with a relative, they revealed that this was normal behavior for McCarthy.
