Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. looked delighted while attending the 96th Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday.

It comes after Cillian revealed how he felt about playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in his Oscar-nominated film.

The Irish actor attended a screening of the Christopher Nolan biopic at the BFI IMAX Waterloo on Wednesday, where he spoke about the research conducted in his role as the theoretical physicist credited with being the “father of the atomic bomb.”

When asked about the most important lesson he learned from working on the film, Cillian thoughtfully responded: “The main thing I learned or trusted was that he was a human being, that was the main thing I wanted to access: his humanity.”

The incredible physical transformation Cillian underwent for the role was revealed by his co-star Emily Blunt, who plays Oppenheimer’s wife Kitty.

Emily remembered how Cillian only ate one “almond a day” and he became “very haggard” as he immersed himself in the project.

Speaking to Extra last year, Emily explained: “I had such a monumental undertaking.”

Cillian himself told The New York Times: “I love acting with my body, and Oppenheimer had a very distinctive physicality and silhouette, which I wanted to achieve.

‘I had to lose a lot of weight and we worked on the wardrobe and tailoring; He was very thin, almost emaciated, he lived on martinis and cigarettes.

But Cillian He made it clear that his extreme diet was not safe and should not be tried by other people. “You become a little competitive with yourself, which is not healthy,” he said, adding, “I don’t advise it.”

The breakneck pace of filming helped Murphy reach her weight loss goal.

“It’s like you’re on this damn train that’s just bombing. It’s bang, bang, bang, bang. “You sleep for a few hours, get up and hit again,” she told The Guardian.

‘I was running with crazy energy; I crossed a threshold where I didn’t worry about food or anything. “I was so immersed in it, in a state of hyper…something,” he explained.

‘But it was good because the character was like that. He never ate.

Cillian continued his nomination streak by receiving a Best Actor nomination for his lead role in oppenheimer.

He is currently the bookies’ favorite to win the award and will compete against Bradley Cooper – Maestro; Colmán Domingo – Rustin; Paul Giamatti – The Holdovers and Jeffrey Wright – American Fiction.
