‘Only Murders in the Building’ boss says Jesse Williams “cried” at ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ reference in season 3

Only kills in the building showrunner John Hoffman shares Jesse Williams’ reaction to the Gray’s Anatomy reference in season three of the hit series.

During the third episode, Loretta Durkin learned from Meryl Streep that she had landed an audition for a “spur of a sucker of a Gray’s Anatomy spin-off,” he shouted Grey’s New Orleans: Family Burn Unit.

“It’s for a dermatologist’s mother, so she has a backstory. And lines!” Loretta tells Oliver in Martin Short’s episode. “And the producers said they might make her limp, so… it’s juicy!”

John Hoffman revealed to TV linein an interview published online Tuesday, that Williams, who plays documentary filmmaker Tobert Only kill“cried at the reference” as they read a table prior to filming.

“Jesse was really sweet about that,” he added. “And it’s a real tribute. I mean, has there been a more successful show than Gray’s Anatomy? What a stroke of luck for an actress (like Loretta) to get that opportunity…. Watching Meryl Streep get excited about that for herself is just a dream.

Williams played Dr. Jackson Avery in the medical drama before leaving in 2021. The Hollywood Reporter That Gray’s Anatomy was a “beautiful ship” on which he was “honoured”.

While Loretta eventually turns down the part Grey’s New Orleans and continues with Oliver’s play Death rattleHoffman teased that there’s “more to come” with the Family burn unittelling viewers, “Hold on tight.”

Season three of Only kills in the buildingstarring Short, Selena Gomez and Steve Martin, is currently streaming on Hulu, with new episodes airing on Tuesday.
