One person was killed and others were injured when a 4-story garage collapsed in lower Manhattan, New York City. Local officials said the second floor of the garage collapsed on top of the first floor. Firefighters who rushed to deal with the incident were removed “due to concerns about the stability of the building”.
Authorities said a 4-story garage collapsed in lower Manhattan in the city of New Yorknear Pace University on Tuesday, killing at least one worker and injuring 5 others.
CBS quoted local emergency officials as saying that the second floor of the garage collapsed on top of the first floor.
Footage from the site showed cars piled on top of each other in the wreckage.
The New York Fire Department said in a statement that firefighters who rushed to deal with the incident were removed “due to concerns about the stability of the building.”
