One Nation has rejected its support for one of its candidates a fortnight before the Queensland state election after details of his colorful past resurfaced.

Jasmine Harte was dropped as a candidate for Chatsworth in Brisbane’s southeast after it emerged she had been charged with attempted murder in 2011. The charges were later dropped.

Nude photos from Harte’s glamorous past as a model have also resurfaced, although she said she told the party about her past before being selected to run as a candidate.

He faced charges of attempted murder and acts intended to cause great bodily harm 13 years ago, after a drive-by shooting in which a man was shot in the stomach.

Ms Harte was accused of arranging to meet the man and having her boyfriend shoot him over an alleged $1,000 drug debt. All charges were later dropped.

One Nation disapproved of her due to “her past”, which Harte said was a reference to the charges, along with nude photographs of her online.

Mrs. Harte said to the courier mail He blamed “dirty politics” for unearthing the old charge against him.

She said the court case “was something I was involved in and had nothing to do with, and unfortunately I got dragged into it.”

Harte said it had ruined his life at the time because he was innocent, and now it had ruined his chances in politics.

“I have no hard feelings against One Nation, it’s the dirty politics of other parties for digging up dirt… holding my judicial position against me.”

He said he was “not ashamed” of his past. “So, I have a story: I have made mistakes and I am willing to stand up now and make a change.”

In a statement, One Nation said it “maintains its comprehensive vetting procedure” of candidates.

“Mrs Harte has been frank with us about her past and understands the reasons why she has been rejected,” said the party’s campaign manager, Damian Huxham.

He said all One Nation candidates are expected to meet high standards and that “high standards are also expected from the staff responsible for the implementation of our recruitment and background check procedures”.

In the 2020 Queensland election, Steve Minnikin of the LNP defeated Lisa O’Donnell of the Labor Party in a close race.

The then One Nation candidate, Aaron Clarke, polled just 965 votes out of a turnout of 32,370.

Harte does not rule out running as an independent in future elections.

“People could have more trust and faith in someone like me to keep politicians honest,” he said.

“I’m going to wait and see how everything goes, stay out of the spotlight for a while.”

Although Ms Harte’s name and photograph have been removed from the One Nation Queensland election candidate website, it is understood she will continue to appear on the ballot paper because it was too late to remove her.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted One Nation for further comment.
