One man was found dead while two others without life jackets remain missing after a high-speed boat crash on the Connecticut River.

The men, aged between 20 and 30, were aboard a single motorboat with six other people when it struck an east-facing dock near Harbor One Marine in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

The high-speed crash left the boat broken into pieces and all passengers in the water, according to Joey Kellems of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Long Island Sound Sector.

He said CNN Six people were rescued, while the three men, who were not wearing life jackets, remained missing as the Coast Guard searched the waters near the crash site Monday night.

One of the men was found dead during the search, according to DEEP.

The health status of the six people rescued, a man and five women aged between 24 and 30, is unknown after they were taken to hospital.

Coast Guard search and rescue teams responded with air and water support while other relief agencies also participated in the search.

The accident has been declared a mass casualty incident and diving teams are on the scene to find the missing men.

The Coast Guard has not yet revealed how the boat crashed, but said it received the call about the incident at 9 p.m.

Old Saybrook is a coastal town about 30 miles from New Haven, Connecticut.

The investigation into the boating accident continues.
