Two young men have been hospitalized, one of them with fatal injuries, following an early morning stabbing in the center of the Gold Coast tourist area.
Emergency services were called to reports of a “serious assault” at an intersection in Surfers Paradise about 6.15am on Saturday and found two 20-year-old Toowoomba men with stab wounds.
A third man was arrested over the incident and police have since released images of two more men they want to speak to.
One of the injured suffered serious injuries to his stomach and back and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The other received serious injuries to the lower parts of the body and is stable in the same hospital, he reported. The Gold Coast Newsletter.
Initial reports suggested the incident had been a shooting, but no weapons or supporting evidence were found at the scene on Remembrance Drive at Markwell Avenue.
‘Police have spoken to several people at the scene; “However, no charges have yet been laid in relation to the injury incident,” a police spokeswoman said.
Detectives from the Gold Coast District Criminal Investigation Division have released images of two people they believe can assist with investigations.
Both men were photographed in cars and police believe they can continue their investigations.
Police are searching for these men after a stabbing on the Gold Coast left two men seriously injured.
“Gold Coast detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the two people, pictured, to come forward immediately,” police said.
Police have urged anyone with relevant information to contact police as investigations continue.
Witnesses said they saw people running in the area, after believing they heard a sound like a gunshot.
“There were people running. I heard someone say ‘get off the street,'” said a man who lives across the street.
“I heard a noise that didn’t sound as loud as a gun, but it could have been a projectile.”

The arrested man was reportedly detained in Q1 and taken to the Southport guardhouse.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly saw several men on the ground being detained by police.
Detectives will continue their investigations and do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
