Alpine Village dorm residents remain under supervision, but other staff and students are now allowed to leave campus.

Campus security issued an alert to affected residents that said: “Only those in Alpine Village are sheltering in place. We do not want movement in and around these areas. Everyone else is allowed to leave campus.

The school grounds will remain closed for the rest of the day, police said.

UCCS officials had previously issued an urgent alert instructing students to close their doors, turn off their lights and move out of sight.
