A knife fight broke out in suburban Melbourne on Friday night leaving one man dead

An apparent late-night knife fight in Melbourne’s west left one man dead.

Police received reports of a group of youths fighting in a park on Haines Drive, Wyndham Vale, about 11.30pm on Friday.

A man, who has not yet been formally identified, was located with a stab wound.

The seriously injured man received medical attention but died at the scene.

Two other men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Forensic police were seen canvassing the area early Saturday morning as detectives investigate the circumstances leading up to the man's death.

Four men were arrested nearby and are assisting police with their investigations, although it is unclear how many youths were involved in the alleged fight.

A homicide investigation has been launched.

The area has been cordoned off as a crime scene and forensic police were seen canvassing the area in the early hours of Saturday morning.
