A man has died and several others were seriously injured after a vehicle and trailer carrying 11 people plunged into a river when a bridge collapsed beneath them.
Police were called to the Moor Lane area of Roeburndale at around 4.25pm following a report of a serious accident on a farm.
It was reported that a Polaris Ranger vehicle pulling a trailer had fallen into a river when a bridge collapsed.
Eleven people were in the ranger and trailer at the time of the incident.
A man was fatally injured and died on the spot.
A second man suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
A third person has suffered a serious back injury and has been taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Others injured were also taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Emergency services, including police, ambulance personnel, fire brigade and mountain rescuers, arrived on the scene.
The road closures are in place and are expected to continue for some time.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
Det Insp Kirsty Wyatt, of Lancashire Police, said: ‘My thoughts go out to everyone involved in this very sad and tragic incident.
“Unfortunately, a man has died and a number of people have suffered serious injuries.
“At this point, we believe the vehicle was pulling the trailer, which was carrying several people, when a bridge collapsed. Those people were then ejected from the vehicle and trailer.
“Our investigation is at a very early stage and we are investigating what happened.”
