Napoli tied Thursday with Udinese 1-1, to win its third title after a 33-year wait and five stages before the end of the season.
A 26-year-old man was killed in Naples after being shot during a night of celebration that lit up the city after the southern club won the Italian League title for the third time in its history, according to media reports Friday.
Three others were injured in the same incident.
It is not yet clear whether the shots were fired as part of the coronation celebrations, or if it was a criminal activity, according to Corriere della Sera newspaper.
The newspaper “La Stampa” said that the victim, who died after being taken to hospital, had links to the local mafia, while the police were continuing their investigations.
And the same newspaper pointed out that more than 200 people ended up in hospital at night, due to injuries they suffered during the celebrations, from knife wounds to burns from firecrackers, and asthma attacks caused by smoke inhalation.
