A woman who was arrested after a nine-year-old boy was killed by a dog in a holiday park has been released for investigation.

Frankie Macritchie, nine, was found dead by the police in a mobile home after the dog's attack at about 5 o'clock on a Saturday.

He thinks he was alone with the dog when the attack took place while his parents and other adults were in a different caravan nearby.

Frankie would also have stayed with his grandmother at the site, Cornawalls Tencreek Holiday Park in Looe.

The 28-year-old woman, who was not named but who, according to the police, was an employee of the boy's mother, was detained on suspicion of dangerous control over the dog and manslaughter.

Today, the Devon and Cornwall police confirmed that she was no longer in custody and her & # 39; bulldog-like breed & # 39; remained in kennels while officers continued their investigation.

Police also confirmed that the boy and his family were guests at the caravan park in the Plymouth area.

During a live press conference on television, Mike West, Chief Inspector of the D&C Major Crime Investigation Team, stated that the & # 39; dog owner was an employee of Frankie & # 39; s mother who was also on the site at the relevant times & # 39 ;

He added: & # 39; Frankie had spent several nights prior to his tragic death in the Holiday Park accompanied by adults.

& # 39; We believe that Frankie was alone in a caravan with the dog when he was attacked, while the adults with whom he was on vacation were in an adjacent unit. These two groups of people were all known to each other and all from the Plymouth area.

& # 39; This is a desperately sad event in which a nine-year-old boy lost his life during vacation; our thoughts and sympathies are with the loved ones of Frankie and all those who knew him.

& # 39; I also want to recognize those who came to help him on the spot; members of the public and the emergency services who had to work in very shocking circumstances.

& # 39; We appreciate that this case will shock and upset the public, but we urge the public not to blame this tragic incident and allow us to do our job and to fully investigate this issue.

& # 39; Please do not speculate on social media. There is a good chance that this will be seen by those who knew and loved Frankie and speculation will only lead to further confusion.

& # 39; The woman we arrested for this issue has been released for investigation and the dog is staying in kennels. We ask that those who knew Frankie get the space they need to cope with what happened. & # 39;
