The Endgame author, 42, this afternoon posted a screenshot to his followers on X, formerly Twitter, of an alarm clock app that was set for 10am. 18.59 this afternoon – an hour before the public knew it was coming.
Mr. Scobie’s post caused much speculation from fans as to what was to be announced, with many asking what announcement he was teasing.
But it appears Mr Scobie deleted the post after he was criticized online, about an hour after the release announcement from the Princess of Wales.
One user, Laura, responded to his post, tweeting: ‘Disgusting man. Literally shame on you.’
Another social media user Imogen Purtill said: ‘Will you shut up Scobie now? Are you happy now?’

The Princess of Wales said her doctors advised her to start a course of preventive chemotherapy, which she is currently undergoing.
After the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis, Mr Scobie shared the video and wrote: ‘Kate, Princess of Wales has shared that she is undergoing treatment for cancer. The abdominal surgery she had in January was successful, but tests carried out afterwards revealed the presence of cancer and she started a course of chemotherapy.’
He then shared a screenshot of a written version of her statement, which he said was ‘brave’.
This comes after Mr Scobie recently weighed in on the coverage of the Princess of Wales’ Mother’s Day portrait when it was ‘killed’ by several picture agencies.
He tweeted on Sunday March 10: ‘Wonder what it would be like if they had a good comms team.’
In a separate tweet, he described the killing in the photos as ‘mysterious’ and added: ‘No comment from KP yet.’

‘Obviously this has come as a huge shock and William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.’

‘As I have told them; I feel good and get stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirit. Having William by my side is also a great source of comfort and reassurance.
‘Like the love, support and kindness shown by so many of you. It means so much to both of us. We hope you will understand that we as a family now need some time, space and privacy while I finish my treatment.
“My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to returning when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.
‘At this time I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For anyone facing this disease, in whatever form, don’t lose faith or hope. You are not alone.’
