Radio host Kyle Sandilands has slammed a producer who suggested the new Omicron strain of Covid-19 poses no threat to unvaccinated people.

Senior producer Pedro Vitola, who is an anti-vaxxer, made an unwitting comment Monday about feeling safe from Omicron as “only vaccinated people have it.”

The suggestion that vaccinated Australians are somehow the only ones susceptible to Omicron infuriated Sandilands, who silenced Mr Vitola with a single argument.

He pointed out that Omicron has only been found in vaccinated Aussies coming from abroad, as unvaccinated people cannot travel.

Sandilands also warned Vitola that now that the mutation is in Australia, he and other unvaccinated people are at significantly higher risk of contracting the unpredictable variant, spreading it and becoming seriously ill.

‘Pedro, are you worried about getting killed by the new Covid variant? Because you’re the only one who hasn’t been vaccinated here,” he said at about 6:10 am.

“Don’t worry at all,” Vitola replied smugly. “And really, only people who have been vaccinated have it.”

“Sorry, what’s that?” Sandilands snapped. “Sorry, that’s not true. Vaccinated people can carry it, but if you get it, you’re dead.’

“I … I didn’t say that,” Vitola muttered from the private glass cabin where he has to work because he refuses the shot.

‘What do you say, ‘only vaccinated can get it’. That’s not true,” Sandilands added.

He then explained that Omicron, first reported to the WHO from South Africa on Nov. 24, had so far only been found in vaccinated people because they are the only people “allowed to travel” internationally.

KIIS FM newscaster Brooklyn Ross chimed in: ‘But once it’s here’ [in] someone who has vaccinated it can spread to the unvaccinated quite easily.”

Sandilands said he wouldn’t be surprised if one day Vitola recorded a video from his hospital bed admitting he was wrong by refusing the vaccine.

“You’re going to fool yourself into making your ‘bro, bro, I was wrong’ videos from the hospital, just like all your other friends,” he said.

“Bro, I was wrong. I looked at all the wrong things. I went through the wormhole. It’s too late now.”

Sandilands then made the sound of labored breathing through a respirator as co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson urged him not to laugh at Vitola.

Two fully vaccinated travelers who landed in Sydney from South Africa on Saturday evening have been infected with the new strain.

A third person tested positive for the mutated variant in the Northern Territory on Monday.
