In a shocking revelation, the 23-year-old gold medal winner has revealed she turned down an invitation to showcase her skills at the Logies in Sydney last week.

Instead, the earthly athlete was in the crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground watching AFL side Hawthorn defeat Carlton.

“The (Logies) invited me to present an award, which would have been great, but I wanted to go to football instead,” he told the BBC. Herald of the Sun on Saturday.

“Not many girls would have done that,” the athlete added.

Elsewhere in the chat, the champion swimmer said she was looking forward to taking a break from the discipline of training for a while and enjoying herself.

“I’m going to be a girl who says yes to everything,” she explained.

‘When you’re training you constantly have to say ‘no’ to things, or you have to leave early, or you can’t really enjoy events, so I’m definitely going to do everything I want to do, go places, say yes to invitations, say yes to opportunities, and that’s what I’m excited about during this break.’

The Golden Girl was on top of the world as she came home an Olympic hero last week.

He had another reason to be happy as he enjoyed a shocking reunion with a close friend on live television.

Ariarne, who won gold in the 400m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay in the Paris pool, met Abbey Badcock in emotional scenes.

The pair have been close friends since Titmus grew up in Tasmania, before moving to Queensland as a teenager in 2015 to pursue his swimming career.

Speaking on Channel Nine’s The Today Show in a live interview at Sydney Airport, Titmus said he was delighted to see Badcock in person.

“She’s a close and special friend,” Titmus told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo after the two hugged.

‘I don’t get to see her often because of my training, but my God, this is so cool.

Abbey, who revealed she used to swim against Ariarne when she was young, told viewers how incredible it was to see her close friend on TV competing at the Olympics.

Then it was Ariarne’s turn, who confirmed that although winning gold in Paris was a feeling of euphoria, she was also overcome with a feeling of relief.

“The Logies invited me to present an award, which would have been great, but I wanted to go to football,” she said. “Not many girls would have done that.”

“It was a relief for me (to win), I was racing all over Australia,” he said.

“It’s still a little painful, I’m trying to process it all. I’m living my dream… I’d also like to think I’m the same person I was 10 years ago.”

He also confirmed that catching up with family and friends will be his focus over the next few weeks before returning to the pool, but football is his main priority now that he is back on home soil.

“I say no a lot because of training, but now I can’t wait to be a girl who says yes to everything and not have to be the first one out and go to bed early because of early wake-ups,” she said.

‘I’m looking forward to a few days off, starting with watching my (Hawthorn) Hawks this Sunday in Melbourne (when they play Richmond).

“I think we’ll be playing the (Brisbane) Lions in the grand final.”
