Adam Peaty has heaped praise on his girlfriend Holly Ramsay for the support she has shown him while he competed at the Paris Olympics.

The 29-year-old swimmer spoke about how his “brilliant” girlfriend has been by his side and claimed it’s the “people behind the athletes” who make it all work.

Holly, who is the daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay, has also apparently been helping Adam with his cooking ahead of his Olympic bid.

Speaking to Mark Wright on Heart FM, Adam revealed that Holly cooks his meals “every day” and has also been feeding the other members of Team GB.

Mark asked him: “Your girlfriend is Holly Ramsay, daughter of Gordon Ramsay. How often does she cook for you?”

Responding, Adam said: ‘Every day. I’ve learned, I actually lost the desire to cook, but now I’ve learned the skill of cooking. Yeah, she’s absolutely brilliant. She has the team in her meeting, we have team breakfasts.

Asked if she cooks for the whole team, Adam said: ‘Yes, yes, and she’s been absolutely brilliant and part of these performances, we always look at these athletes at face value but it’s the people behind these athletes that are actually doing the work and she’s a big part of that.’

Adam’s interview comes after he joked about his bond with Holly’s famous dad Gordon.

While Adam may be best known for his stellar Olympic success, he has revealed one area that Gordon can certainly relate to.

The gold medal-winning swimmer revealed he suffers from a “red fog” of rage in the minutes before an important race and has to compose himself before jumping into the pool.

It’s a trait Gordon can relate to, given that the chef is best known for his ill-tempered television rants.

In an interview with the BBC ahead of his silver medal-winning run on Sunday, Adam was asked how he prepares for a big race.

He said: ‘If anything, I’m trying to calm myself down because I’m too excited, making playlists, stretching (or) thinking about happy times with Holly, George, my mum and dad.

‘So I was flooding my mind with optimism and hope until 10 minutes before the race and that’s when I saw a red mist and that’s when I started to get really angry.’

Gordon agreed that he is no stranger to the “red mist” and said he uses a similar trait to Adam when it comes to expressing his anger.

The chef said, ‘You have this determination to outsmart everyone, but this anger that gets misinterpreted, how do you vent it? Because I get it right off my chest.’

Peaty added: “I do, but it offends people.”

Adam and Team Great Britain finished fourth in the men’s 4x100m medley relay on Sunday night and were just short of a medal.

In the final men’s swimming event of the Paris Games, Oliver Morgan was tasked with getting his team off to a strong start in an event where the United States and China were expected to compete for gold.

Adam had been battling illness and missed the mixed relay, but put in a strong swim after a superb takeover to keep Team GB in the race.

Their progress in the breaststroke briefly lifted Great Britain into second place after the 200m, but Duncan Scott and Matthew Williams were unable to keep their team in the medal places as a raucous home crowd pushed France into third place.

The event was highly contested, but an incredible finish by Pan Zhanle allowed China to take gold with a time of 3:27.46.

Following his victory, Adam questioned the legitimacy of China’s win in the men’s 4×100-meter medley relay and warned Olympic officials to “wake up and do their job.”

Qin Haiyang and Sun Jiajun helped their nation to gold but were two of 23 Chinese swimmers who tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.

The pair were allowed to compete after it was discovered they had unwittingly ingested the drug through contaminated food.

The problem seriously overshadowed preparations for Paris 2024 and appeared to generate mistrust among several swimmers.

Both Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel expressed their doubts, and Peaty joined the clamor on the final night of pool action when he criticized Qin.

“One of my favorite quotes I’ve heard lately is that there’s no point in winning if you don’t win fairly,” Peaty said. “I think you know that truth in your heart.”
