Nicola Adams has been revealed as the host of the British Boxing Awards, which will celebrate the best of the sport in November.

The marquee event, sponsored by Mail Sport, will host some of the biggest names in British boxing and the celebrity world on November 8 in London.

It is the first time that all levels of British boxing, from grassroots gym volunteers to international superstars, will be recognised at one flagship event.

“The British Boxing Awards will shine a spotlight on the individuals and organisations contributing to the spectacular growth of the sport. Boxing’s champions, both in and out of the ring, will be recognised at this landmark event, which is the first to be held in the UK,” said Adams.

“I’m really excited to be hosting the British Boxing Awards in November and I urge boxing fans to get involved by nominating those they would like to see win. It will be a special night.”

Adams became the first female boxer to win gold in London in 2012 and retained her flyweight title in Rio in 2016.

She held the WBO flyweight title in 2019 and retired undefeated after six fights.

Award categories span multiple levels.

At the top end will be the coveted Male Boxer of the Year and Female Boxer of the Year.

And there are many more awards up for grabs in the categories of Grassroots Boxing Hero, Out of the Ring Award, Brand of the Year, Inspirational Role Model and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lewis Richardson brought home Team GB’s only boxing medal of the Games, claiming a bronze after reaching the semi-finals in the men’s welterweight category.

But the British team was proud to see six boxers qualify for the Games, all debutants apart from bantamweight Charley Davison.

Welterweight Rosie Eccles, middleweight Chantelle Reid, heavyweight Pat Brown and super heavyweight Delicious Orie all arrived in Paris.

The British team has a long history in Olympic boxing, having won 18 gold, 13 silver and 25 bronze medals over the years.

In addition to Adams, other stars of that production include Anthony Joshua, Amir Khan and Joe Joyce.

Beyond the Olympics, British boxers have had plenty to talk about this year, with some big title winners this summer.

Chris Billam-Smith defeated Richard Riakporhe to retain his WBO cruiserweight title at Selhurst Park in June.

Meanwhile, Chantelle Cameron won the vacant interim WBC super lightweight title in July and called for a trilogy fight with Katie Taylor.
