The Wigan runner won the women’s 800m final to claim her first career Olympic gold, breaking the British record set by Dame Kelly Holmes 20 years ago at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

She crossed the finish line in 1:56.72, almost half a second faster than silver medallist Tsige Duguma of Ethiopia, who clocked 1:57.15.

By winning gold, she made history by becoming the first British competitor to win athletics gold at this year’s sporting event.

Just days after her record-breaking win, Keely was honoured with a mural in Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter.

The Team GB star took to Instagram on Wednesday and announced the exciting news to his 514,000 followers.

Sharing a carousel of snaps, Keely sported a casual ensemble of dark blue jeans and a black crop top, along with a small Chanel bag.

She kept her blonde hair down and opted for natural makeup as she glowed in front of the artwork.

Painted on a red shipping container, the mural featured an illustration of Keely with the caption, “Not all great people stop at gold.”

The mural was commissioned by sports giant Nike and also features the band’s motto “Just Do It.”

Alongside the post, Keely wrote: “Finally home!! And got to see this amazing piece of art created by @nike and so many talented people!

‘We’ve been working on this for the past 6 months! It’s beautiful to see it come to fruition and show up in my hometown! It’s a great and surreal moment, thank you.’

After her incredible achievement, Keely decided to skip the closing ceremony in Paris to enjoy a well-deserved break.

The gold medallist swapped her running shoes for a pair of heels as she celebrated her win in style with her family on the Costa del Sol.

No expense was spared as she dined with family and friends at the luxurious ‘Clubhouse Marbella’.

Keely had previously revealed a family holiday was her “first priority” after the Games, along with the possibility of buying a beige Porsche if she won gold.

She told The Mail before the games began: ‘I saw a really nice car on Pinterest.

‘My brother asked me, “Do you know how expensive they are?” And I said, “If I win the Olympics, I’ll buy that car.” I think it’s a Porsche Cayman. As long as it’s sporty, beige and pretty, that’s all I care about.’

The running sensation is now set to rake in big money following her recent success, thanks to her World Athletics award and a string of lucrative sponsorship deals.

And brand guru Marcel Knobil, who has worked with Coca Cola and Yamaha, said: The sun“His estimated earnings before these Olympics were around £250,000 thanks to companies such as Nike and Omega.

“Now, thanks to her exceptional talent, golden success and her attractive personality and appearance, Keely can look forward to earnings in excess of £2 million next year alone.”
