It’s fair to say Aston Villa had a nightmare last week.
Going into the first leg, the Villans were favorites to win the competition, but things quickly changed as soon as the game began.
Villa did not play at the level we are used to with them, while Olympiacos were ruthless. A hat-trick from Ayoub El Kaabi and a deflected shot from Santiago Hezze surprised Villa Park.
Villa equalized at one point thanks to Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby, but they were unable to keep out the clinical Greek team.
Their night got even worse when Douglas Luiz missed a penalty to make it 4-3. It was not his best evening in Villa’s colors.
Remember it’s only halfway there but it will take a monumental display from the English side to turn things around tonight.
The Villa may be down but it’s not out… yet.
