Olivia Newton-John has paid tribute to the late wife of former Grease co-star John Travolta, Kelly Preston.
Kelly died at the age of 57 after a two-year battle with breast cancer on Sunday morning, and Olivia, 71, recalled the actress’s “ soft spirit ” in a heartfelt message on Monday on Instagram.

John announced that his 31-year-old wife had lost her battle against breast cancer on Sunday evening.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year fight against breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. My family and I will be forever grateful to her doctors and nurses at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.
“I’m taking the time to be there for my kids who have lost their mothers, so forgive me if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the coming weeks and months as we heal. All my love, JT. ‘
A spokesman for the Travolta family told it People that Kelly had chosen “to keep her fight private [and] had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her close family and friends, “in the months leading up to her death.”

John and Olivia have remained friends ever since they played love interests Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson in the popular 1978 movie Grease.
John spoke to Daily Mail Australia earlier this year, revealing that he never lost touch with his former costar.
“We love each other and if you love people, you keep in touch,” he said when asked how he kept their 40-year friendship.
In late 2019, the duo reunited their iconic Grease costumes for the first time since their 1978 film for a Meet ‘n’ Grease singalong event in Florida.

The duo have been there through the good and bad times.
