Olivia will direct a film adaptation of Avengelyne, a comic book character from Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld who debuted in 1995. Deadline reported on Thursday.
The film will be produced under Margot and her husband Tom Ackerley’s LuckyChap Entertainment banner, as well as Simon Kinberg, known for the Deadpool and X-Men films, and Genre Films’ Audrey Chon.
LuckyChap is the production company behind Greta Gerwig’s eight-time Oscar-nominated film Barbie, in which Margot played the beloved Mattel doll.
Meanwhile, Olivia previously directed the 2019 coming-of-age film Booksmart, which received critical acclaim, and the 2022 drama-filled thriller Don’t Worry Darling, starring her handsome ex-boyfriend Harry Styles.
According to Deadline, Avengelyne is not being developed with Margot in mind to play the comic book heroine, despite previously playing Harley Quinn in DC superhero movies.
The outlet also commented that a “big, top-notch writer” is interested in adapting the script.
Variety reports that the project has yet to be picked up by a studio or streamer, but will be presented to the big guns in the coming weeks.

Avengelyne’s illustrations show her as a busty auburn-haired vixen dressed in a racy black vinyl bodysuit with a matching choker with a large cross pendant.
He uses a “holy sword” from the Crusades to fight and destroy his enemies.
Avengelyne will mark Olivia’s second time working with Margot’s LuckyChap Entertainment, which the Australian star launched with her husband in 2014.
The production company is currently producing the House star’s latest film, Naughty, a Christmas movie for Universal Pictures.
Olivia transitioned from acting to directing in 2019 with Booksmart and currently has two projects in pre-production, including Naughty.
Meanwhile, Barbie’s favorite is gearing up to star in the upcoming Kogonada-directed film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, with Colin Farrell.
It was also recently announced that Margot’s LuckyChap Entertainment will soon produce a film based on the long-running video game series The Sims, although few details are currently known about the exciting new project.
It will be directed by Kate Herron, who has worked behind the scenes on hit TV shows such as Loki and Sex Education, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
The Sims video game series began in 2000 and allows players to live in a “virtual simulation” of life where they can create their own lives.

Margot is currently only listed as a producer on the film, rather than also taking on the lead role as in the Barbie movie, although she may have a cameo in it.
