Oleksandr Usyk was released by police at Krakow Airport in Poland after he was filmed being led away in handcuffs, just days before he was due to fly to London to watch Anthony Joshua take on Daniel Dubois at Wembley.
Footage circulating on social media shows the 37-year-old Ukrainian boxer being led away by uniformed men with his hands behind his back, an incident which has now been revealed to have been a “misunderstanding”.
Usyk released a statement shortly after the video circulated online, insisting that “everything is fine” and thanking Ukrainian politicians for resolving the issue.
He said: ‘Everything is fine, my friends. There was a misunderstanding that was quickly resolved. Thank you to everyone who cared.
“Thanks to Ukrainian diplomats for their support. And respect to Polish law enforcement officers, who do their duty despite their height, weight, range of weapons and clothing.”

Usyk has since explained that the incident was a “misunderstanding” and that “everything is fine.”
Serge Lapin, Usyk’s friend and director of the camp, insisted that everything was fine before the boxer was released and offered a reason why the boxer was arrested.
He said: “Don’t worry, everything is fine. The customs control service is neglecting its duties.”
Usyk’s wife Kate also posted on Instagram to explain that “everything was fine” and that the boxer would explain the reason for the incident.
She wrote: ‘Everything is fine, everything is fine! Alexander will explain everything later! There is nothing that could be criminal… Good night everyone!’
Usyk was heading to London ahead of Joshua’s big fight with Dubois, which takes place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.
The Ukrainian champion is still expected to be there ringside to watch AJ, the top fighter he has beaten twice before.

Usyk is scheduled to fight Tyson Fury in a rematch on December 21 after beating the Gypsy King. on points in May to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, recovering from some tough rounds in the middle of the fight to finish strongly.
A rematch was scheduled for December 21, as the contract for the fight expires on December 31. The fight was delayed to allow both boxers to recover from their various facial injuries.
Usyk is currently training for the fight and revealed he has learned a lot from his win over the Brit.
“Now that we’ve started, we’re going to training camp,” he said earlier this month.
The director of the Usyk camp, Serge Lapin, said that customs control services “neglected their duties”

“We will prepare even better and, God willing, with God’s victory, we will show our best form again. I have incredible motivation. People often tell me that I have already done everything, that there is nothing more to do. But we just work every day, every day is a new day.”
