Brandon Theesfeld, 22, was charged Tuesday with killing Alexandria & # 39; Ally & # 39; Kostial after her body was found at a lake about 20 miles from the Ole Miss campus.

He was taken into custody on Monday evening outside a gas station in South Memphis after the police had followed his cell phone and credit cards and saw his pick-up parked outside.

Surveillance images obtained by Fox13 let Theesfeld enter the gas station with an Ole Miss T-shirt on, just before the police arrived and stormed his truck.

Sources of law enforcement said that Theesfeld seemed to have blood on his clothing and that a weapon was found in his vehicle.

A dozen officers and at least seven patrol cars swarmed the gas station during the arrest of Theesfeld.

He was brought back to Mississippi and booked in Lafayette County prison.

Theesfeld stood before the court on Tuesday and wore an orange prison jumper with his hands cuffed and ankles chained.

His father Daniel Theesfeld insisted on Tuesday that his son was innocent.

& # 39; I know my son is innocent. And I have reasons to believe that I cannot share anything now. But I would like to ask everyone to give him the presumption of innocence until the contrary is proven, & he said in a statement to WLBT.

Authorities have not revealed how Kostial died, but law enforcement sources say she was shot eight times.

Her body was found by a police officer who performed a routine patrol at Sardis Lake in Mississippi on Saturday morning.

Reports suggest that Kostial was last seen Friday night on surveillance footage outside a bar.

She went home around midnight, but it is understandable that she left her house again without her housemates hearing it. Kostial was spotted again on surveillance video with Theesfeld in a supermarket not far from the lake where her body was found.

It is not known whether Ally was killed on the lake or whether her body was brought there.

The police did not release or confirm a motive during the shooting or that Theesfeld and Kostial knew each other.

An Ole Miss spokesperson said that Theesfeld, a business administration student, was suspended from college.
