The professional dancer told MailOnline she has accepted her body will “never be the same as it was on Strictly” after her breasts and tummy changed following the birth of her daughter Ella, now three.

Ola and her husband James lost a combined 6.5 stone last year after confessing to packing on the pounds during the pandemic and struggling with motivation to dance.

With the help of her fitness website Dance Shred, they turned their lives around and Ola said she felt like she had “lost a whole person” after losing weight.

But the former Strictly Professional, who starred on the show from 2006 to 2015, admitted that while the bikinis she wears are smaller, she still struggles with her body confidence.

She said: ‘Although I’ve lost all my weight, I still feel self-conscious in a bikini.

‘Even though it’s a smaller size bikini and I feel good, I’m not full of confidence. I’m generally not a confident person, so I’m still conscious.’

She continued: ‘My body will never be the same as it was on Strictly because my stomach looks different, my breasts are different, things change.

‘It’s not about looking perfect but about feeling healthier and fitter. I’m still a size 8, I’m there… but I find summer difficult because of barbecues and Pimm’s, Prosecco, I find it harder than Christmas, let’s say, but when I’m at home I cook healthier.’

The mother of one said the temptation to show off her slim figure often means she ends up socializing, which can be counterproductive to her diet.

She said: ‘Seeing my new body, I want to go out and dress up more, but that means eating in restaurants and enjoying alcohol here and there.

‘But I want to enjoy, let’s say, ice cream with my daughter. I don’t want to be the mom who doesn’t eat ice cream, I want to have it with her.

‘I want to show him that I still eat and have fun. “It’s about finding the right balance.”

Ola is not alone in her insecurities, and her husband James admits that he has his hang-ups too.

The former Dancing On Ice champion said he is aware of hair loss but is not convinced a transplant is the answer.

He said: ‘For me it’s my hair, I’m very conscious of the fact that I’m losing it.

‘Everyone has something that bothers them and that is part of life. Getting older is something else.

“I’ve been offered hair transplants by a lot of different people, but I’m a little skittish.”
