Kate Flannery has come to the defense of her former co-star John Krasinski after he was named The sexiest man alive of 2024 according to People magazine.
The actress, 60, played the role of Meredith Palmer in the hit comedy The Office, while Krasinski, married to Emily Blunt, played Jim Halpert for a total of nine seasons.
Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed on the Late Show with Steven Colbert that the A Quiet Place star, 45, had received the honor, leaving fans divided.
Flannery shared her excitement about John winning the title during an interview with TMZ Wednesday, and gushed that it was the right decision.
‘Let me tell you something. This was long overdue. In my opinion, John Krasinski has been robbed every year since 2005. It’s about time,” Kate said.

‘Have you seen him lately? Have you seen it since Jack Ryan? he asked, referencing the 2018 action series titled Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. ‘He’s so excited!’
Flannery continued, “He’s so handsome my eyes melt every time I see him in person.” He and Emily are so handsome I have to squint. They’re…he’s really attractive.’
‘Is no one paying attention? I mean, I’m really glad people are finally paying attention. But I assure you that I’m not drunk,” she added jokingly.
‘I’m serious. “John has always been adorable and very cute, but I feel like people haven’t seen him sexier because he’s so cute.”
Kate then told the outlet: ‘So, it’s the perfect combination of two things. Cute, hot, sexy, fun and intelligent. I mean, he’s so much more than Jim.
While speaking to TMZ, Flannery recalled working alongside Krasinski on The Office and said, “John was always one of the nicest, funniest, smartest kids.”
‘I mean, when I met him on The Office, he hadn’t done anything. He hadn’t really done anything notable either. “We all became famous together, and John always had that something, that really special something.”
She further added, “He is so… he has so many gifts.” He has so many talents. He is an incredible director. “He is an incredible actor.”

After his time on The Office, Krasinski went on to star in other projects such as A Quiet Place (2018), which he also directed.
He also directed the sequel A Quiet Place Part II, as well as the fantasy film IF, which was released in early May of this year.
Kate gushed that John is “very funny” and “very smart,” adding, “He doesn’t have to be funny because some people have to be funny and it’s exhausting.” So John is not exhausting.’
‘You see a spark in someone straight away and John has always had it. He always has had it. And I’m glad People magazine is finally catching up.’
The title given to John caused mixed reactions from fans, with some taking to X to share their thoughts.

He continued, “That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day I’m going to be asked to be the sexiest man alive?’ And yet, it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
Emily was also “excited” to hear the news and he recalled that “there was a lot of joy when I told her.”
The Devil Wears Prada actress had also humorously told John that she would wallpaper his house with the cover of her magazine if he ended up winning.
