After two years without a club, Obafemi Martins has rejoined the Chinese Super League, Shanghai Shenua.
The former Nigerian international has returned to fill the void left by Odion Ighalo, who has extended his loan period at Manchester United until January 2021.
The 35-year-old, who played twice in the Premier League with Newcastle United and Birmingham City, suffers from a hamstring injury, but is now ready to get back into action.
Obafemi Martins has rejoined Shanghai Shenhua after spending two years without a club
Martins said at his second revelation, “I was injured. It’s a good feeling to come back to a team I know. ‘
Martins scored 19 times in 40 appearances during his first stint with Shanghai Shenhua.
He spent three seasons at St James’ Park, returning to the UK top flight a season later when he came to Birmingham City on a rental basis.
There he helped the club to Carling Cup glory and scored the winner against Arsenal in the 2011 final.
