Police have released images of the man they say stabbed a woman in a random attack in Midtown Manhattan last week.

Police on Wednesday released images of the man they say stabbed a woman in a random attack in midtown Manhattan last week.

The man approached the 61-year-old victim near the corner of W. 57th St. and Eighth Ave. around 3:35 p.m. March 1, police said.

Without provocation, he plunged a sharp object into her right arm, cutting her.

The man, who according to police sources at the time was homeless, headed north on Broadway.

The injured woman was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she received treatment.

Police are still searching for the man and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, an orange hoodie and holding a Target shopping bag.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
