Nuclear war is ‘inevitable’ conclusion to Ukrainian invasion, warns Russian general who wrote country’s ‘war bible’
- Russian Major General Alexander Vladimirov has warned that nuclear war is ‘inevitable’
Nuclear war is the “inevitable” conclusion of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a Russian general who wrote the country’s “war bible” has warned.
The chilling prediction came from retired Major General Alexander Vladimirov, who wrote the three-volume Russian book titled “General Theory of War.”
“To switch to the use of weapons of mass destruction, only one thing is needed: a political decision by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief (Vladimir Putin),” the veteran commander warned in an interview with journalist Vladislav Shurygin.
“The objectives of Russia and those of the West are their survival and their historical eternity.
“And that means that in the name of that, every means of armed struggle at their disposal will be used, including a tool such as their nuclear weapons.”
He warned: “I am sure that nuclear weapons will be used in this war – inevitably, and from there neither we nor the enemy have anywhere to go.

The chilling prediction came from retired Major General Alexander Vladimirov, who wrote the three-volume Russian book titled “General Theory of War.”
“The sooner our politicians and our leaders realize this, the sooner we start training the troops and the population for this purpose – the more chance we have of survival, which means victory.”
In Vladimirov’s 2013 book, the retired major general claims that there has been a transition from the traditional theory of war – where there was a distinction between peace and war – to a permanent state of war characterized by constant fear and insecurity.
During his interview, Vladimirov, 78, said training troops was vital so that they had “the ability to wage war under the conditions of the use of weapons of mass destruction”.
His book contains key lessons for Russians, he said.
“If you want peace, fight until you win,” he said. “If you want a long and solid peace, bury the hatchet with him in the territory of the enemy.
“So we have to be prepared. Prepare the army, the state, the economy and the population of the country.

He spoke as Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Russia was inflicting a heavy toll on Ukraine in the war, despite Western aid to Kiev.
“In the last month alone, 34 Ukrainian army command points have been destroyed,” he said.
“Since the beginning of the so-called counter-offensive, the enemy’s losses have exceeded 66,000 men and 7,600 units of ammunition…
“Over the past month, Russia has shot down 159 (Ukrainian) HIMARS missiles, 13 cruise missiles and over 1,000 drones.”
