Police officer Kristian White has pleaded not guilty to charges he Tasered 95-year-old great-grandmother Clare Nowland to death in her nursing home.
The 33-year-old NSW police officer appeared at the Supreme Court via video link on Friday, where he entered his formal plea and committed to stand trial on November 11 on a charge of manslaughter.
Mrs Nowland, a dementia sufferer who weighed just 43kg, was holding a steak knife as she “slowly” approached a police officer at Yallambee Lodge in May 2023.

Mr Cnst White is alleged to have fired a Taser at Ms Nowland, causing her to fall to the ground, hit her head and suffer a brain haemorrhage.
Staff members at Yallambee Lodge reportedly called an ambulance shortly after 4am and the two police officers arrived shortly before 5am.
They discovered a frail Mrs Nowland sitting in a chair in front of a desk inside the nurses’ treatment room holding a knife in her right hand.
She was taken to Cooma Hospital, where she later died from an inoperable brain bleed.
White will remain free on bail until trial.
