Recently retired football star Cooper Johns has revealed he was almost stuck in Las Vegas this week after meeting a prostitute in a limousine.
Johns, 24, is in Sin City working for KIIS Radio ahead of Sunday AEDT’s NRL double-header at Allegiant Stadium, and told hosts Kyle and Jackie O about his unusual meeting with a local chaperone after a great night in the city.
“I got in a limo with my girlfriend (Kenna Hullick) and this woman was there, she said she knew the driver,” he said.
“I was pretty drunk after a big night in the (play) zone, so I didn’t pay too much attention to it.
‘He asked us if he could come to our hotel, but Kenna said no.
Recently retired football star Cooper Johns has revealed he was almost stuck in Las Vegas this week after meeting a prostitute in a limousine.
The 24-year-old is in Sin City working for KIIS Radio ahead of Sunday AEDT’s NRL double-header at Allegiant Stadium.
“I later found out that this is a common scam, where the escort enters the hotel room and then calls her pimp, who comes and demands money to extort her.”
Johns later joked that his brainy girlfriend had “blocked him” and “wished Kenna wasn’t in the limo” since she “cost him a good experience.”
It comes after the son of Fox Sports league personality Matty Johns told KIIS listeners in January that he was aware of “many” NRL and AFL players who are gay and bisexual.
The former five-eighth left the NRL earlier this year following stints with the Melbourne Storm and Manly Sea Eagles dating back to 2020.
He announced his move to the media with a funny instagram post, where even the feared Melbourne coach, Craig Bellamy, was in his sights.
Once Johns’ retirement was confirmed, KIIS presenter Sandilands told listeners about the conversation he had with Cooper’s father.
‘His father was on the phone saying ‘don’t let my son be screwed’. Do you really want me to quit football? It has to be worth it,’ Kyle said.
Meanwhile, Allegiant Stadium will host the NRL double-header featuring the Sea Eagles and Rabbitohs (1.30pm, Sunday AEDT) followed by the Broncos taking on the Roosters (3.30pm, Sunday AEDT) as the code officially goes global.
Football supremo Peter V’Landys has declared he is prepared to play for the long haul as the NRL has agreed a five-year deal to host games annually in Las Vegas.
He is also confident that “once Americans understand the rules, they will accept and enjoy the best game of all.”
