The ex-wife of a former NRL superstar is suing him in a civil suit for allegations that he raped her multiple times during their marriage, leaving her with “ panic attacks. ”
Kirra Michelle Wilden claims that Michael Jennings raped her ‘five or six’ times after they tied the knot in 2015. They eventually ended their relationship a year later in 2016 and divorced in 2018.
Ms Wilden alleged in the Sydney District Court that the alleged rapes took place in their home after Jennings returned home in the early hours of the morning when he was allegedly affected by drugs or drunk, leaving her crying and ‘crushed’ herself. felt, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Jennings has denied the claims and has not yet provided any evidence in court.
Kirra Wilden is suing former rugby league superstar Michael Jennings in Sydney District Court for allegations that he raped her multiple times during their marriage, which lasted from 2015 to 2018. He denies the claims.
Mrs. Wilden described a heavy personal toll of the alleged rapes that she claimed left her with anxiety and insomnia, for fear of Jennings’ return home and that a subsequent relationship was affected by the trauma
Judge David Wilson SC rejected a request from the Jennings legal team to suppress his name.
Jennings, who had a stellar rugby league career, was recently ended by Parramatta and is being investigated by Sports Integrity Australia.
He was resigned by Parramatta in October 2020 for allegedly testing positive for banned substances Ligandrol and Ibutamoren.
He denied the use of performance-enhancing drugs, promised to clear his name and issued a statement at the time.
“ I would never do anything to jeopardize my standards, my reputation or the legacy I leave, especially my son, ” said Jennings’ 2020 statement.
Jennings has had a stellar rugby league career starring for several NRL clubs, for NSW and for Australia, but his last contract with Parramatta was torn after he reportedly tested positive for banned substances
Ms Wilden said she still suffers from panic attacks and her studies as a paramedic have been compromised
“I just remember lying there feeling dead,” Wilden told the court on Wednesday about one of the alleged attacks, adding that she felt like “my soul had left my body.”
The court heard that after the alleged assaults, she claimed to have sat in the shower crying, being violated and feeling disgusted, but was ‘ashamed’ to tell anyone because she thought it was her ‘duty’ to have sex to have with him.
She claimed at the time that she had trouble falling asleep while Jennings was out late for fear of returning home.
Jennings is also said to have called Mrs. Wilden a “slut,” “useless,” a “whore,” and “a piece of slut.”
She said the alleged assaults caused her anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia and did not want to have sex.
It also affected her later relationship and her studies as a paramedic.
She married Justin Maamary in 2019, but the marriage failed in 2020, partly due to intimacy issues.
Mr. Maamary presented evidence in court that Ms. Wilden told him that Jennings had allegedly raped her while married to Jennings, leading to a reluctance to have sex.
Kirra Wilde told the Sydney District Court that her next marriage, to Justin Maamary, failed in part due to the sexual dysfunction she experienced after marrying Jennings.
Michael Jennings has denied all of Ms. Wilde’s allegations against him and has yet to testify in the case
Jennings’s lawyer, Murugan Thangaraj, said the rape allegations are untrue.
His lawyer presented many text messages to the court as evidence, but none contained indications of sexual assault, or used the abusive names she claimed he called her.
New South Wales Police are also known to have no records of any sexual assault against Jennings by Ms. Wilden.
Evidence was also provided that Mrs. Wilden and Jennings had had sex after they broke up.
Jennings’s defense argued that Mrs. Wilden’s motives were financial and revenge.

Mr Thangaraj also claimed she missed the lavish lifestyle they had together – given that their marriage at St Mary’s Cathedral and Doltone House was estimated to cost $ 250,000 – and that she wanted to ‘keep her WAG status’.
Jennings has not yet provided evidence, but is expected to do so when the case resumes next week.
She asks Jennings to pay an unspecified amount in damages. Clearly, the Sydney District Court is hearing claims of up to $ 750,000.
