- Sam Burgess and officer clash in heated exchange
- The Southern legend was not happy with the previous incident
- Burgess said the tunnel is a “very small corridor.”
Warrington head coach Sam Burgess was involved in a tunnel brawl with Hull director of rugby Richie Myler following his team’s 24-6 Super League victory.
The NRL great snapped at Myler as he walked through the tunnel at Halliwell Jones Stadium, after reportedly being unhappy about losing a trade.
Warrington player Adam Holroyd was not named in the official Wolves squad list that was sent to the RFL during the week, reducing the squad to seven trades.
Burgess was clearly upset when he spoke to Sky Sports after the match.
Rabbitohs legend Sam Burgess has been involved in a tunnel altercation with Hull director of rugby Richie Myler.
“I don’t know, it was mismanagement on someone’s part,” he said.
“We named a 21-man squad, it’s on our social media and it’s public, so we have to get it right. “We talk about concussion and protecting our players, well, tonight you failed.
‘Someone has to be held accountable for that. We had to make a decision before the game and we didn’t make the right decision for the players.
“If it had been the other way around, I would have made the right decision for the player.
‘We’re living in that world now, so let’s all get on board. Otherwise, what are we doing?
The Rabbitohs great also commented on his altercation in the tunnel with his rival.
“He’s a very small running back,” Burgess said in the postgame press conference.
Burgess was angered by a controversial exchange during a Super League match
The NRL great is having great success in his first top-level coaching job.
‘He made a clever comment as I passed. You really don’t need to do that.
“I understand you’re new to the job, and so am I. But the game is over, that’s it.” Let’s go.’
Burgess left Souths under a dark cloud last year amid an alleged dispute over the alleged favorable treatment of star players Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker, with Demetriou siding with his fullback and five-eighth.
Burgess landed his first top coaching job in the offseason, with the Wolves, and already has the team flying.
