One of the best-known voices from the rugby league has opened up about a meeting with the American rapper Snoop Dogg during a flight in Qantas.
Legendary Channel Nine sports commentator Ray Warren traveled in business class on a flight to Brisbane in 2008 as the run-up unfolded with the ‘bloody rude’ artist and his entourage of guards lining up for him.
Warren had his fellow commentators stabbing as he retold the story during Friday night’s NRL game between West Tigers and South Sydney Rabbitohs on Channel Nine after a cardboard cut-off of the rapper appeared on the stands.
Legendary rugby league Ray Warren (pictured with wife Cher in 2019) explained why he’s not a fan of the American rapper Snoop Dogg
“I once took a plane to Brisbane with Snoop Dogg … he sat back and patted a glass of chardonnay on my lap,” the experienced commentator recalled.
“I objected strongly, and three big guys stood next to me like the Sydney Harbor Bridge.”
Co-commentator Phil Gould replied, “I would have liked to be in conversation with you and Snoop Dogg. What were you talking about? “
Warren admitted that he had no idea who Snoop Dogg was while continuing his story.
“I was like a little ferret trying to hide. I got off the plane and said to someone “Who the hell does he think he is! “” He recalled.

A terrifying aviator, Warren sat on his seat with a drink before taking off when the famous rapper caused a stir by leaning back.
“I managed to get up and say,” What the hell do you think you’re doing? ” Warren told the Sun Herald.
“Anyway, in seconds I am surrounded by these big, tough guys, his entourage, and I had no idea who they were or who this man was in front of me. I looked at its size and decided to sit back. Fast.’
He added that Snoop Dogg did not speak to him and said the rapper looked at him as “I was a blockhead.”
“When we got off the plane, one of my friends sitting next to me said,” do you know who that was? “I said,” I don’t have a damn idea, but whoever it was, he was damn rude, “” said Warren.
Warren says he hasn’t heard any songs from Snoop Dogg yet.
