Good-natured and sophisticated, James Bond was once considered a high-society gentleman spy.
But a new study claims that the double agent is now “less chic” than its creator Ian Fleming had expected.
Dr. Alex Baratta of the University of Manchester analyzed the class details of 007 films and concluded that the famous spy should now be considered middle class.

He noted that Aston Martin-loving Bond, played by late 007 actor Daniel Craig, was even seen driving a Ford Mondeo and drinking Heineken (right) rather than a vodka martini shake and not agitated.
Dr Baratta, whose study was published in the International Journal of James Bond Studies, said: “James Bond is not elite, he is not too fancy, although he is not not working class.”
Craig stepped down from his role after No Time To Die in 2021. Happy Valley’s James Norton and Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson are both tipped to replace him.
