The early-onset colon cancer epidemic has gripped the nation in recent years.
But doctors warn about the rise of another form of the disease among young people.
A report today from the American Cancer Society found that rates of the disease increased 1.4 percent annually between 2012 and 2021 among women under age 50.
This is double the rate in older age groups, which have seen an annual increase of 0.7 percent over the same period.
This is the latest cancer that appears to be on the rise in younger adults, after doctors have repeatedly warned that colon cancer is also on the rise in this age group.

“There is a slightly greater increase in the rate of breast cancer diagnoses among women under 50 years of age than among those over 50 years of age.”
He added: “These are things we are looking at to try to understand.”
Olivia Munn is among women in their 40s to have been diagnosed with the disease, after revealing in March that she was diagnosed with cancer last year at the age of 43, just two months after a mammogram said everything It was fine.

Of them, it is estimated that 13,180 are under 40 years old, while 37,650 are over 40 years old.
It was unclear why rates were increasing in younger women, but Dr. Ahmedin Jemal, co-author of the study, said changes in women’s reproductive habits may be behind this change.
He said more people were delaying motherhood and having fewer children or no children at all. Many were also not breastfeeding and were also experiencing earlier menstruations.

This fits into a broader trend of rising cases of colon cancer among young people in the United States that has taken doctors and medical experts by surprise.
Rates among people under age 50 have increased about two percent each year since the early 2000s, and the United States now has the sixth highest rate of early-onset colon cancers in the world.
Initially, doctors blamed rising obesity rates and highly processed diets for the rise in colon cancers among young adults.
But in recent years, as more cases have emerged in healthy, active people and vegetarians, several have switched tracts and now suggest it could be a common substance, such as a food additive, in the environment.
Former Argentine actress Soledad Fandiño is taking advantage of her recent breast cancer diagnosis to raise awareness. The 42-year-old shared a series of photos on her Instagram of her recovery from surgery last Friday and waited until Monday to reveal for the first time that she was recovering from the illness.

The first was high-fructose corn syrup, a liquid sweetener commonly used in the United States and other countries, which has found its way into many health products because it is cheaper than sugar.
And the other was emulsifiers, used to give foods their creamy texture and often found in healthy foods like low-fat yogurts, cottage cheese and peanut butter.
