Tottenham have suffered an injury and Richarlison will miss Sunday’s home game against Nottingham Forest.

Richarlison has appeared as a substitute in Tottenham’s last three league games as part of the club’s efforts to get him back to full fitness.

However, the forward will now have some free time to try to speed up his recovery from a knee problem.

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League and are two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.

Richarlison has made a significant contribution this season, scoring 10 goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

While Richarlison will not be available against Forest, Tottenham will be able to turn to Brennan Johnson.

Johnson came off in the final minutes of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against West Ham and was later seen with a bandaged knee.

However, Postecoglou stressed that Johnson, who scored against the Hammers, will be fit to face his former club Forest.

Postecoglou said: ‘Brennan is fine. No problem.

‘The only one is Richy. He’s had a little problem with his knee these last few weeks. We thought it would be best for him to take this weekend off and prepare for Newcastle next.”

After winning one, drawing one and losing one of their last three Premier League games, Tottenham will be looking for greater consistency in the latter stages of the campaign.
