A controversial former brother owner has been arrested for allegedly importing large quantities of methamphetamine and MDMA.
Eddie Hayson was arrested on the Gold Coast on Tuesday morning and is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court this afternoon.
The 55-year-old man allegedly imported 16kg of methamphetamine and 5kg of MDMA.
Queensland police will allege the drugs were imported from one state to another and were discovered last August.
“At about 9.40am today, strike force detectives executed a search warrant on the Gold Coast where they arrested a 55-year-old man,” NSW Police said.

“Organized Crime Squad detectives will attempt to extradite a Gold Coast man to Sydney following an investigation into the alleged commercial supply of drugs into Australia under Strike Force Maimura.”
Police said the operation is “a joint investigation between the State Crime Command’s Organized Crime Team and the Australian Federal Police, with assistance from the New South Wales Crime Commission, Western Australia Police and Queensland Police.”
Strike Force Maimura “identified a criminal group allegedly involved in the supply of drugs across Australia using private aircraft and encrypted devices”.
Although no charges have yet been laid, New South Wales Police are expected to request Hayson’s extradition on Tuesday.
In 2014, he lost control of his high-class Stiletto brothel and filed for bankruptcy owing $52 million.
He had previously said that footballers, jockeys and police officers had used the facilities and sometimes been given free sex, but that he did not expect anything in return.

“That’s how I was promoting my business,” he said. “Word of mouth is a very powerful tool.”
Hayson is well known on the racing scene having owned a number of racehorses including Sign Nothing, Throw Off and Back Stabber.
In 2006, Hayson and fellow professional gambler Steve Fletcher netted nearly $2 million from the TAB.
The pair reportedly received an internal email late informing them that Newcastle Knights halfback Andrew Johns would miss a game against the New Zealand Warriors because he was injured.
An NRL investigation later cleared Hayson of any wrongdoing.
In 2018, Hayson was banned by the NRL from associating with Canterbury Bulldogs playmaker Kieran Foran, with whom he shared a long-standing friendship stemming from Foran’s early playing days with the Manly Sea Eagles.
